Horizontal architecture.
Open to the garden.
Shared life centres on a 48 m² kitchen and living room, while private rooms occupy the upper floor. Broad windows, a terrace and a sequence of open spaces connect the house to its plot. Flat roofs, deep overhangs and a measured mix of light, dark and terracotta surfaces define its profile.
Architectural form
A horizontal profile
with generous glazing.
The house stretches along the plot and opens towards the garden.
Design response
Flat roofs with pronounced overhangs tie together volumes of different heights. Broad glazing opens the shared rooms to the terrace, while recessed facade areas create sheltered places beside the house.
Everyday benefit
The clear silhouette works with the plan: the main living spaces maintain a visual link with the garden.
Two-storey layout
Shared life below.
Privacy above.
The floor schedules list 90.60 m² and 96.25 m²; together, 186.85 m², rounded to 187 m².
Design response
The ground floor brings together a 48 m² kitchen-living room, entrance, stairs and service rooms. It also includes a bedroom and bathroom. Four bedrooms and two further bathrooms occupy the upper floor, with a double-height opening over part of the shared space.
Everyday benefit
The split between floors separates shared activity from the bedrooms, while keeping a flexible room on the ground floor.
Plot and landscape
A garden path
leading to the terrace.
The site plan places the house deeper into the elongated plot, with space for access and planting in front.
Design response
A path of broad stepping slabs crosses the lawn towards the entrance and terrace. Trees line the boundary and gather near the house, while paved areas define practical routes through the garden.
Everyday benefit
Vehicle access, the walk to the entrance, garden and terrace read as connected parts of one outdoor layout.
Facade and materials
A restrained palette
with a warm accent.
The visualisations show light surfaces, dark vertical cladding and terracotta details.
Design response
The materials distinguish the horizontal roof planes, vertical facade areas and accents around the entrance. Planting softens the boundary between the architecture and the garden.
Everyday benefit
A limited palette gives the facades character without relying on excess decoration.
Entrance and boundary
A distinctive arrival
with a private garden.
The entrance extends the house’s architectural language to the street-facing edge of the plot.
Design response
Solid walls meet dark vertical gates and a separate pedestrian entrance. A terracotta panel anchors the entry composition and echoes accents on the house.
Everyday benefit
The street frontage feels complete, while the enclosed boundary creates a more private transition from road to garden.
Automation potential
Controls shaped
around daily life.
The architectural album has no automation plans, so lighting, heating and security should be treated as a potential, separately designed engineering layer.
Design response
Lighting could be divided into groups for the kitchen-living room, stairs and circulation, bedrooms and terrace, with scenes such as Evening, Night and Away. Heating could be zoned by floor and room, with schedules and an absence setting. A security design could consider contacts at doors and windows, motion detection in circulation areas and gate monitoring; the final system would be defined in a dedicated security plan.
Everyday benefit
When coordinated during engineering design, automation can bring lighting, climate and access control together without adding visual clutter to the interiors.
Project scope
From concept to working drawings.
The project brings together the architecture of a two-storey house, plans for both floors, a site plan, facades, entrance design and views of the landscape connection. Automation is presented as a possible scope for separate engineering development.
