A more accessible building.
A more welcoming space for children.
The Lviv renovation covers a 2,514 m² public building. The design adds a lift and ramp, provides for emergency vehicle access and increases greenery on the site. Inside the children’s area, books sit on low shelves, tables form small groups and soft seats leave room for quiet play and rest. A light palette and a colourful wall landscape give the space distinct moods without crowding it.
Activities and books
Books and activities
close to daylight.
Children need places to work together at a table and reach a book for themselves.
Design response
Low bookcases run beneath the windows, with several small tables beside an open part of the room. Books remain visible and the furniture does not block the daylight.
Everyday benefit
The room supports small-group activities and quiet reading without extensive rearrangement.
Soft seating
Space for a pause
during an active day.
Activities and rest alternate in the shared area, so not every place needs a table.
Design response
Soft poufs and window seats sit alongside small tables. Their scale suits the children’s area; light surfaces and rounded forms make transitions between uses feel calm.
Everyday benefit
Children can move from the table to a soft seat within the same easy-to-read room.
Playful wall art
Colour for play
and imagination.
The interior benefits from a recognisable detail that children encounter during play, not only at the entrance.
Design response
A large landscape with cacti brings colour to the light furniture. Low tables, soft seating and open shelves still do the practical work, so the graphic does not get in the way of using the room.
Everyday benefit
The mural gives the space character, while open floor area remains available for play and movement.
Ceiling and light
Lighting that belongs
to the room.
Artificial light needs to work with daylight without distracting from activities.
Design response
In the light part of the space, round fittings meet a fine pattern of ceiling lights and suspended decorative forms. Above the wall landscape, the ceiling has a warmer tone and large round fittings set an even rhythm.
Everyday benefit
Lighting becomes part of the interior. A separate engineering design could group it for activities and quieter moments.
Project scope
From concept to working drawings.
The design brings a more accessible entrance and vertical route to the building, alongside a children’s area with places for books, activities, play and rest. Low furniture, open storage and considered lighting support everyday use without visual clutter.
