Area: 47 m²

Object: Apartment

## A bedroom behind glass. Open views through the apartment.

Glass in a black frame defines the sleeping zone in this apartment. The kitchen and dining table remain open to the circulation route, while soft seating and large graphic portraits mark the lounge. Light floor finishes connect the rooms; timber and dark surfaces add contrast. Each zone has a clear character within the compact footprint.

Transparent zoning

## A defined bedroom with an open outlook.

The bed sits inside a glazed enclosure beside the route between the entrance and kitchen.

### Design response

Transparent partitions with black vertical lines mark the bedroom’s boundary. A timber base and soft fabrics distinguish it from the light passage. Glass preserves long views between parts of the apartment.

### Everyday benefit

The sleeping area has its own boundary while the interior retains visual depth. This approach suits someone who enjoys an open layout.

The transparent boundary keeps views open between bedroom, kitchen and entrance.

Kitchen and dining

## A light kitchen with a timber table.

The dining table stands beside the kitchen worktop and glazed sleeping zone.

### Design response

Pale lower fronts meet timber upper cabinets and stone-pattern finishes. Built-in appliances occupy a tall cabinet block. A rounded timber table and blue chairs distinguish dining from food preparation.

### Everyday benefit

Cooking and dining sit close together. Furniture defines each function while the continuous floor keeps the room open.

Timber and blue upholstery add colour to the light kitchen.

Lounge

## Soft seating among clear lines.

The lounge continues the apartment’s combination of black framing, timber and pale surfaces.

### Design response

A sofa, armchair and small table form a place for conversation and rest. A fireplace insert, plants and textiles soften the geometry of the glass partitions. Large portraits give the wall a distinct focus.

### Everyday benefit

There is a defined place to unwind, with furniture and a mood that differ from the kitchen and circulation space.

Soft furniture forms a separate setting for rest.

An armchair and fireplace insert create a quieter spot beside the glass.

Art and textures

## Large portraits give the room its character.

Graphic artworks occupy much of the lounge walls.

### Design response

Black-and-white portraits with patches of colour sit beside dark armchairs, timber and reflective surfaces. A small number of large accents gives the room expression without a crowded collection of decorative objects.

### Everyday benefit

The apartment has a recognisable image. Furniture and finishes provide a backdrop for accents visible from several points in the room.

A large portrait fills the wall beside the armchair.

The black frame relates the artwork to the partition frames.

Shower and storage

## A light shower. Dark shelving close at hand.

Glass, black framing and contrasting finishes continue in the shower area beside the bedroom.

### Design response

Light stone-pattern surfaces line the shower, while dark finishes mark the open shelves and basin area. Tall narrow shelving holds towels and toiletries. A towel rail sits beside the basin.

### Everyday benefit

Everyday items remain close to the shower, with vertical storage making use of a small stretch of wall.

Shelving and a towel rail sit beside the basin.

The shower and vertical shelves have different finishes within one palette.

Storage

## Closed cabinets and open essentials.

A compact layout needs places for daily belongings outside the open lounge.

### Design response

The entrance design shows pale tall cabinets and a niche with coat hooks. Kitchen appliances and closed storage sit within the furniture fronts. Open shelves beside the shower keep everyday essentials close at hand.

### Everyday benefit

Storage follows where things are used: clothes near the entrance, kitchen items in cabinets and toiletries beside the shower.

Light and possible scenes

## Light for different parts of the evening.

The visual design combines track lighting, local pendants and illuminated shelving.

### Design response

Tracks trace the ceiling’s concrete texture, and a pendant marks the dining table. A possible extension would be coordinated light groups for cooking, dinner and rest. Leak protection could also be considered for the shower as an additional engineering feature.

### Everyday benefit

If added, scene control would let residents change the lighting with one setting. Leak protection would require its own engineering design.

Project scope

## Transparent zoning for an urban apartment.

The interior connects a glazed sleeping zone, kitchen and dining area, and a lounge with large graphic accents. A light floor keeps the space continuous while black frames, timber and contrasting textures distinguish its zones.

## About this project

Who would this layout suit?

Glazed zoning suits people who value open views and a visual connection between rooms. In a new project, we discuss the level of privacy needed for the bedroom and bathroom separately.

Could the lighting support smart scenes?

That could be designed as a separate addition, with light groups for cooking, dinner and rest. Scene control is presented here as a possibility, rather than an installed system.

Where should a similar interior begin?

Bring an apartment plan and describe how you use the kitchen, sleeping area and lounge. This helps define room boundaries and storage before choosing finishes.
