Area: 41 m²

Object: Restaurant · Two basement rooms

Project year: 2020

## A place for dinner beneath a brick vault.

The design takes its direction from the basement architecture. Exposed brick remains the main texture, while light outlines the arches and artwork. Sofas, small tables and individual chairs form groups for guests. A dark floor and burgundy textiles bring the room together.

Architecture

## The vault gives the room its character.

In a small basement room, the ceiling shape is visible from every seat.

### Design response

Exposed brick continues from the walls into the vault. A light outline follows the end-wall arch; low sofas keep it in view. Large framed works sit between areas of visible brick.

### For guests and the venue

The architecture gives the venue a recognisable identity. The decorative elements support the vault rather than hide it.

Low furniture keeps the vaulted ceiling in view.

Guest seating

## Small tables and upholstered seating.

An intimate dining room needs furniture that supports conversation at the table.

### Design response

Sofas sit along the walls, facing individual chairs. Round tables on central bases form compact groups. Burgundy and dark upholstery distinguish the seats within a consistent palette.

### For guests and the venue

Guests can choose a sofa or an individual chair. Small table groups offer flexibility for different parties without large furniture blocks.

Seating along the walls maintains views across the room.

Lighting

## Light on brick, artwork and tables.

The basement atmosphere depends on which surfaces the lighting brings into view.

### Design response

The composition combines illuminated picture frames, light near the lower walls and compact fixtures on the vault. The arch outline adds another layer. Light reveals the brick texture and separates furniture from the dark background.

### For guests and the venue

The eye has several points of reference: artwork behind a table, the lit arch and local accents. The room retains its evening character without one large central ceiling fixture.

Frames and compact fixtures provide distinct layers of light.

Light draws attention to decorative surfaces beside the seats.

Artwork

## Artwork gives each seat its own backdrop.

Guests see the walls at close range, so decoration needs to work both across the room and at the table.

### Design response

Large framed works are accompanied by smaller images. A light outline picks out the central picture, while exposed brick remains its backdrop. The arrangements vary in subject and size.

### For guests and the venue

Different seats have their own visual accents. The venue gains a recognisable interior without repeating the same decoration on every wall.

Materials

## Burgundy textiles against dark brick.

A distinctive room needs a consistent palette so its details do not compete.

### Design response

Burgundy upholstery and curtains sit alongside a dark glossy floor. Fine light lines in the floor pattern echo the brass-coloured furniture details. Plants soften the boundaries between tables and textured walls.

### For guests and the venue

The palette combines richly coloured furniture with the dark architectural backdrop. Furniture bases and flooring reflect the light, while textiles give the seating a softer appearance.

Lighting scene potential

## Possible scenes for different times of day.

Several lighting layers provide a starting point for scene controls.

### Design response

A possible extension would be separate control of picture frames, the arch outline and ceiling fixtures. A preparation scene could be brighter, while an evening scene could focus on tables and artwork. This would require compatible light sources, drivers and an assessment of the electrical circuits.

### For guests and the venue

With suitable equipment, staff could change the atmosphere through a single scene. This extension to the lighting design would need separate system selection and commissioning.

Comfort and control

## Basement comfort needs its own brief.

A restaurant below ground needs operational decisions alongside its interior finishes.

### Design response

Recommended next steps include assessing ventilation against the actual guest capacity and heating zones for the two rooms. Leak detection is worth considering at plumbing points, and access control at the entrance. Motors for decorative curtains would make sense only if their position needs to change regularly. These systems need a separate engineering brief.

### For guests and the venue

This work can connect the intended atmosphere with guest comfort and staff routines. System selection depends on the actual equipment and operating schedule.

Project scope

## Brick vaults and a considered dining atmosphere.

The design covers two basement rooms in Drohobych with a total rounded area of 41 m². The case explores the dining room, seating, finishes, artwork and lighting accents. Upholstered furniture and a dark palette complement the brick architecture and give the room its own character.

## About this project

How much space does the design cover?

Two basement rooms of 15.4 and 25.4 m². Their total is 40.8 m², rounded to 41 m². The project year is 2020 and the location is Drohobych.

What makes the restaurant feel intimate?

The brick vault, sofas along the walls, round tables and layered lighting. Illuminated artwork gives different seats their own accents, while burgundy textiles connect the room.

Which automation scenarios could be considered?

Lighting scenes for preparation and evening service are the first opportunity. Ventilation, heating zones and leak protection need a separate engineering brief. These are recommended additions to the design and require compatible equipment.
